Barnegat Bay Watershed and Estuary Foundation
Working to Save Where We Live and Play
The Barnegat Bay Watershed and Estuary Foundation
is the leading non-profit organization that facilitates and
funds projects in
the Barnegat Bay Watershed. Founded in 1994 as the Barnegat Bay
Watershed Association, we’re actively working to preserve
the watershed by:
- Protecting and conserving soil, forest, water, shorelines,
fish and wildlife populations
- Promoting sound land-use practices
- Supporting and rewarding
municipalities that implement watershed-protection policies
and ordinances
- Educating
the public via informative seminars,
newsletters and
website content
- Providing
free Barnie the Crab curriculums—which
address the Barnegat Bay Watershed and related environmental
issues—to
elementary schools
- Hosting conflict-resolution seminars
that foster understanding and consensus among watershed
residents and users
- Co-sponsoring
the annual Barnegat
Bay Festival held in Berkeley Township or at Ocean County College
Operating solely on “volunteer power,” the
BBWEF is governed by its Board
of Trustees, with the help of several Advisors.
