LOGO DESIGN CONTEST UPDATE
October 2001

The BBWEF trustees have chosen a new logo!   Congratulations to Candace M. Hawkins of Point Pleasant, NJ, for submitting the winning design.  The logo incorporates upland, wetland and aquatic features of the Barnegat Bay Watershed and Estuary.

LOGO DESIGN CONTEST UPDATE
June 2001

The BBWEF trustees were pleased at the number of entrants to the logo contest and the creativity exhibited in the designs.   Because some individuals submitted several entries, over 40 designs were submitted in total.  Judging the entries was difficult.  While a number of the logo design entries were promising, the judges felt that modification of some of the designs would be required before any of the designs could be brought to the full board for a decision on the logo and the contest winner or winners.  Consequently, it was not possible to announce or unveil the new logo at the Barnegat Bay Festival on June 9, as was originally hoped.  Contest entrants whose designs were selected as "finalists" will be contacted, if they have not already been contacted.

Here's a list of the logo design entrants (listed in random order):
Karen Bright, Little Silver, NJ
Morgan Furze, Bay Head, NJ
Gina Forcella, Ocean City, NJ
Laureen Biruk, Manchester, NJ

Barnegat Bay Watershed and Estuary Foundation
announces a
LOGO DESIGN CONTEST

Help the Barnegat Bay Watershed and Estuary Foundation select a new logo!

The Winning Entry Will Receive:
1) $500.00,
2) A one year family membership in the BBWEF, and
3) Publicity, including recognition and unveiling of the logo at the 5th annual Barnegat Bay Festival on June 9, 2001, at Berkeley Island County Park.

The Barnegat Bay Watershed and Estuary Foundation (BBWEF) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote a healthy ecosystem throughout the Barnegat Bay Watershed, which is the land area drained by streams and rivers that flow into the Barnegat Bay. The Barnegat Bay Watershed includes most of Ocean County and southern parts of Monmouth County (please view a map of the watershed area at http://www.bbwef.org/map.htm). Contest entrants are encouraged to learn more about the Barnegat Bay Watershed and the BBWEF by visiting the websites of the BBWEF (http://www.bbwef.org) and the Barnegat Bay Estuary Program (http://www.bbep.org).

Logo Design Contest Guidelines: The logo…

…should be an abstract impression that is representative of the watershed – not a representative detailed scale drawing such as that used by the Barnegat Bay Estuary Program (visible at http://www.bbep.org)

…may be in color but must reproduce plainly in black and white and at various sizes (letterhead, posters, billboards)

…must be free of "details", but eye-catching and able to convey the mission of the BBWEF clearly and quickly

Entries (please submit on 8.5 x 11 inch paper with your name, address and phone number on the back) must be postmarked by Tuesday, May 1, 2001, and sent to BBWEF, 1623 Whitesville Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. Phone 732/942-8932. E-mail BBWEF@aol.com.

All designs that are submitted to the BBWEF become the property of the BBWEF. All entrants will receive recognition, including mention on the BBWEF’s website. The winner will be selected by the Board of Trustees of the BBWEF, and the winner and her/his design will receive additional publicity by the BBWEF. The BBWEF reserves the rights to not select any of the submitted entries as the winner, to split the prize among more than one entrant, and to not use any of the entries as its logo.  BBWEF trustees, advisors and their families are not eligible for prizes.
