Protecting the Barnegat Bay Watershed
We Can All Do Our Part!!!

Would you like to save money, sweat and help protect our watershed? A new how to guide is now available to Ocean County residents which can do just that. The Ocean County Soil Conservation District and Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Ocean County have teamed up to developed "Low Maintenance Landscaping for the Barnegat Bay Watershed - A Guide for Ocean County Homeowners". The Guide shows homeowners how to save time and money on landscaping by using effective horticultural practices. Following this Guide will also help to reduce the impact of non-point source pollution on our waters by reducing pesticides and fertilizer runoff. Non-Point Source Pollution posses the biggest and most challenging threat facing the Barnegat Bay Watershed. Low maintenance landscaping also reduces water consumption, helping to preserve the aquifers for future generations. To obtain a copy of the Guide contact the OCSCD, 614 Lacey Road, Fork River, NJ 08731, (609) 971-7002 or RCE, 1623 Whitesville Road, Toms River, NJ 08755 (732) 349-1246.
